Buy Crypto and Cash Out Crypto: A Simple Guide to Using Phesky
Published 8/19/2026 · 8 min read
Phesky started as a virtual card platform: contactless virtual Visa and Mastercard cards funded with USDC. Alongside that, Phesky now gives you access to a crypto gateway inside the same dashboard, with two simple actions — Buy Crypto and Cash Out Crypto. This guide explains what each one does, how the gateway works at a high level, and how it differs from spending on your card.
What "Buy Crypto" means
Buy Crypto is an on-ramp: you start with local money and end with cryptocurrency. In practice, you open the gateway from your dashboard, choose the amount and supported asset, and pay using one of the local payment methods the provider makes available in your session. Many people use it to buy USDC specifically, since USDC is the asset Phesky cards are funded with — but the supported list is set by the provider, not by Phesky, and it can change.
What "Cash Out Crypto" means
Cash Out Crypto is the reverse, an off-ramp: you start with supported cryptocurrency and convert it into local currency. If you earn in stablecoins and occasionally need spendable local money — rent, bills, a local transfer — this is the path to sell crypto or convert USDC to local currencywithout leaving the Phesky dashboard. Payout methods and availability depend on the provider and your region.
How the Phesky crypto gateway works
Phesky integrates a third-party crypto payment gateway operated by Fonbnk. At a high level the flow is:
- You tap Buy Crypto or Cash Out Crypto in the dashboard.
- Phesky opens a secure session for your account with the gateway.
- You choose the asset, amount and method inside the gateway and review what it shows you.
- You confirm, and the provider processes the transaction.
- The provider reports the status back, and your dashboard activity list updates.
An important distinction: Phesky provides access and shows you the resulting activity. The purchase, payout, pricing and any verification steps are handled by the provider under its own terms and privacy practices, described in our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
How gateway transactions differ from card transactions
- Card transactions spend the balance on your Phesky virtual card — a Visa virtual card or Mastercard virtual card — at online merchants or in store via Apple Pay and Google Pay.
- Card funding happens by sending USDC to the funding address in your dashboard. See how to fund a virtual card with USDC.
- Gateway transactions are separate. Buying or cashing out crypto does not by itself add to, or deduct from, your card balance.
The two fit together naturally: buy the crypto you need, then fund your card from it and spend anywhere Visa or Mastercard is accepted online — including ad platforms and online shopping.
What to check before confirming a transaction
- The asset and network you selected — sending on the wrong network can be irreversible.
- The amount, and the total after any fees or rate the provider displays.
- The destination wallet address or payout details, character by character.
- That the payment method shown is one you actually control.
- Any additional requirements the provider asks you to complete first.
Accurate information matters more here than almost anywhere else in the product. Crypto transactions generally cannot be recalled once broadcast, and a mistyped detail usually cannot be undone by support.
Why a transaction can show as pending
A pending status simply means no final result has been reported yet. Common reasons include waiting on payment confirmation, waiting on blockchain confirmations, or provider-side review. Pending is not the same as failed. A transaction may also be declined or reversed depending on the provider and the conditions of that transaction, so avoid resubmitting the same transaction while one is still in progress.
Basic security practices
- Keep two-factor authentication enabled and set a dashboard PIN.
- Only start gateway sessions from inside your own Phesky dashboard.
- Never share your password, OTP, PIN or card details — Phesky will never ask for them.
- Double-check addresses; consider a small test amount when using a new destination.
- Keep records: your dashboard receipts make reconciliation much easier later.
Cards and crypto in one place
The practical value of combining the two is that you stop bouncing between apps: you can buy cryptocurrency, cash some of it out to local currency when you need to, and fund a virtual card for everyday online spending — all from one dashboard. Frequently asked questions
What does Buy Crypto mean on Phesky?
Buy Crypto lets eligible users purchase supported cryptocurrency using the local payment methods made available by the integrated gateway. Phesky provides access to the gateway; the purchase itself is processed by the third-party provider.
What does Cash Out Crypto mean?
Cash Out Crypto lets eligible users convert supported cryptocurrency into local currency through the integrated gateway. Supported assets, payout methods and availability are determined by the provider and can vary.
Is a crypto gateway transaction the same as topping up my Phesky card?
No. Card top-ups use the USDC funding address shown in your dashboard. A Buy Crypto or Cash Out Crypto transaction is a separate gateway transaction and does not by itself change your card balance.
Why does my transaction show as pending?
Pending means the provider has not yet returned a final status. Payment confirmation, network confirmations, and provider-side checks all take time. The status in your dashboard updates when the provider reports the result.
Which cryptocurrencies and countries are supported?
Supported assets, payment methods and country availability are set by the integrated provider and can change. The gateway shows you what is available for your session before you confirm anything.
